NYASA awards the following unique awards annually.
NYASA Distinguished Africanist Award: Awarded to an academic by the NYASA Executive Board for outstanding contributions to the field of Africana Studies in New York.
NYASA Distinguished Teacher Award: Awarded by the NYASA Local Conference Committee to an outstanding K-12 teacher from the region of the conference site.
NYASA Distinguished Service Award: Awarded by the NYASA Executive Board (with input from the Local Conference Committee) to an outstanding organization or person from the region of the conference site.
Outstanding Publication: To echo and honor Dr. Ali A. Mazrui for his commitment to NYASA and his distinguished scholarship, publication, intellectual vibrancy, national and international prominence, and reputation.
NYASA Book Award: To pay homage to the scholarly endeavors and creative activities of our active members.
Roger Gocking Award: Award for best student papers. To be presented at the 41st Annual Conference.
